Overview

The Freshcare Supply Chain Standard Edition 1 (SC1) is based on Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) and is for fresh produce supply chain operations. The areas SC1 addresses are food safety and quality compliance.

While you’re working on the safety and quality of fresh produce on its journey to market and the shelf, we’re here to support you provide that assurance.

Our SC1 standard has prescriptive, business-specific compliance criteria that are for the following areas of the fresh produce supply chain:

  • Packing & Handling (including pre-pack/re-pack)
  • Storage
  • Ripening
  • Transport & Distribution
  • Wholesale
  • Brokerage & Virtual Brokerage
  • Provedore

The SCI has two parts:

  1. Food Safety & Quality that covers areas like hazard analysis; allergens; premises, facilities and vehicles; equipment food defence and food fraud; and product identification and traceability.
  2. Management for areas scope and commitment; documentation; training; and customer requirements.

Not in the Draft

Freshcare is the only Australian-owned and operated provider of assurance programs specifically tailored to the local fresh produce and wine industries. With the largest number of program participants nationally, we proudly provide food safety and quality; environmental; and sustainability certification to over 5000 businesses in Australia.

Our standards establish the essential criteria for participants to undertake to give assurance that their practices meet the scope of certification sought.

Each standard is presented via modules that identify the specific focus areas for the program. The modules are then broken down into the elements of compliance criteria that identify the specific areas that need to be assessed for certification to be achieved.

Freshcare currently has the following certification standards available:

For the fresh produce industry:

  • Food Safety and Quality – On Farm (FSQ4.2)
  • Food Safety and Quality – Supply Chain (SC1)
  • Environmental – On Farm (ENV3)

For the wine industry:

  • Sustainability – Viticulture (AWISSP – VIT 1)
  • Sustainability – Winery (AWISSP – WIN1)

Standards

  1. Food Safety and Quality – the Freshcare Food Safety and Quality Standard (FSQ) has been developed specifically for Australian producers and outlines the good agricultural practice (GAP), best management criteria, and specific food safety requirements (HACCP) for the production and packing of fresh produce on-farm.
  2. Environmental – the Freshcare Environmental Program has been designed to help Australian producers demonstrate world-leading environmental management practices and stewardship of their land, resources and communities in which they operate.
