Overview

Freshcare offers two sustainability standards for the Australian wine industry. These two standards were developed to support the Australian wine industry and Sustainable Winegrowing Australia members.

The Freshcare Sustainability Standards for the Wine Industry provide the only certification pathway for Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.

Certification to our sustainability standards support viticulture growers and winemakers to demonstrate and improve the sustainability of their businesses.

Certification to AWISSP-WIN1 and AWISSP-WIN1 is done through third-party audits every three years.

Standards

These two standards of Australian Wine Industry Standards of Sustainable Practice – Edition 1 are:

Viticulture (AWISSP-VIT1) – the recognised standard for certified member participation in the Australian Wine Industry Sustainability initiative of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.

Winery (AWISSP-WIN1) – the recognised standard for certified member participation in the Australian Wine Industry Sustainability initiative of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.

The Australian Wine Industry has worked with Freshcare to develop the standards that are recognised by the Sustainable Winegrowing Australia program. This was due to the established recognition and experience Freshcare has in providing practical, science-based user friendly standards and supporting resources and services to industry. “Freshcare” as a certification program owner is recognised internationally.

Freshcare currently has the following certification standards available:

For the fresh produce industry:

  • Food Safety and Quality – On Farm (FSQ4.2)
  • Food Safety and Quality – Supply Chain (SC1)
  • Environmental – On Farm (ENV3)

For the wine industry:

  • Sustainability – Viticulture (AWISSP – VIT 1)
  • Sustainability – Winery (AWISSP – WIN1)
